With over 16 years experience in the real estate industry, Court has purchased over 2000 foreclosed homes. Previously, he was the Managing Partner for RCCJ Properties wherein he was responsible for investing funds in distressed assets across all real estate asset classes, negotiating leases & contracts and managing tenant relationships as well as extensive first-hand knowledge and relationships with over 8,200 depository institutions. With acquisitions & sales in the 100s of millions in distressed real estate since 1994, including underdeveloped land, single family residence, apartment complexes and commercial property, Court possesses extensive firsthand knowledge in every facet of real estate. Mr. Gettel previously managed large portfolios of distressed real estate in all sectors. Mr. Gettel holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona and a CCIM designation.
Matt Hawkins is a partner and President of Conix, Inc. Prior to joining Conix, Mr. Hawkins was a Principal/ Co-founder of San Jacinto Partners, a fund focused on the bulk acquisition of single family residential assets and the Managing General Partner of Adjacent Capital, L.P., a private equity/specialty lending fund. He was earlier affiliated with Treadstone Partners, L.L.C., a distressed debt and equity fund. With all three groups, Mr. Hawkins was actively involved with deal origination and portfolio company management. He has an extensive background in both turnaround management and private equity. Prior to joining Treadstone and forming Adjacent Capital and San Jacinto Partners, Mr. Hawkins managed select investments and individual company operations for EFO Holdings, a Dallas-based family investment office, and was associated earlier, with Hull & Associates, a regional turnaround management firm. Mr. Hawkins is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
Chris is responsible in leading efforts to further improve the company’s financial management and control systems, providing financial oversight, and upgrading and improving operating control systems. Reynolds joined Conix in 2009. Chris has a diverse background with over 15 years in both private industry and public accounting serving in the Real Estate Development, construction, technology/semiconductor and service industries. He has implemented significant process improvements to provide more relevant and timely information to management. He has also lead initiatives and streamlined operations which resulted in significant cost efficiencies and savings. Prior to joining Conix, Chris served as Controller for a multi-market Real Estate Development Company and a high tech semiconductor company where he successfully ran the accounting departments and helped negotiate several acquisitions and oversaw the integration of the acquired operations. He has a strong technical accounting background in both tax and audit from his years in Public Accounting as a CPA.
Mr. Doye is a dynamic mortgage and real estate executive, with a proven record of success. He has extensive experience specializing in management, business development, partnerships, origination, sales, and business strategy in all major segments of real estate and real estate finance.
Mr. Swanson has over 16 years of experience in the real estate industry spanning from high-end custom residential projects, entry level residential subdivisions, large scale condominium conversion projects, commercial assets inclusive of multifamily, and self storage. He has been played an integral role in the acquisition and deposition of over $400 million in real estate assets. Mr. Swanson assisted in multiple capacities to facilitate National Self Storage to grow to be one of the top 4 largest privately-held self storage owners and operators in the country. He also resided over a multifamily portfolio with over 10,000 units primarily located in the Southwestern states.
Mark has spent his career in mortgage capital markets working in all aspects of sub-prime and distressed residential whole loan trading and securitization. His experience includes loan valuation and pricing, trading, capital raising, analytic model development, transaction management, special servicing development and oversight, lending, and portfolio/asset management. Previously, Mark ran the distressed residential whole loan book at Merrill Lynch (and subsequently Bank of America) where he managed a portfolio of ~$1.3bn and helped design strategies at Wilshire to maximize value on a portfolio of over $40bn worth of loans and REO. Mark holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mike Bernstein finished top of his class, graduating from University of Arizona’s Eller School of Management with a degree in Finance with Honors and a minor in Spanish. He has been a member of the commercial team at Conix since its early stages, assisting in the development of streamline analytic and acquisition systems for Multifamily and Self-Storage assets. He has experience in underwriting 100’s of millions of distressed real estate along with working with and constructing high-level analytic models aimed at providing innovative and insightful approaches to investment valuations and projections. Mike currently leads Conix’s commercial analytic team as well as assists in capital market and investor interactions.
Steve is responsible for acquisitions of nationwide residential and commercial portfolios, as well as maintaining the direct relationships with 100’s of financial institutions. Steve has been with the Conix team since its inception and has been in the real estate / finance industry for 13 years. During his tenure, he was involved in the acquisitions of nearly $300 million in residential and commercial assets.
Victor Michael Orena has a long history as a successful businessman with a diverse background that includes shipping, restaurants, and real estate. Orena’s combination of experience and professionalism, and most importantly, business ethics, has enabled him to build lasting relationships worldwide. Orena is a sought-after consultant in the construction industry, in which he has guided multimillion-dollar land development projects. For the last decade, Orena has dedicated most of his time to national acquisition development. Mr Orena has been working with the principles of Conix over 5 years, and has built many ongoing relationships within the banking industry which led to the successful closing of over 100mm of REO and NPL.
